Kess graduated with a Master of Clinical Science in Occupational Therapy from Western University in 2000, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1998. Prior to joining the FPC team, Kess acquired 12 years of hand therapy experience working in the plastic surgery outpatient unit at London Health Sciences Centre providing hand and upper limb assessment and treatment, During her years at LHSC, she also gained experience working in orthopaedics, medicine, surgery, transplant, ICU and palliative care.
As an occupational therapist, Kess takes a client-centred and holistic approach to treatment. In addition to rehabilitating the hand, therapy focusses on enabling the client to return to doing those specific activities each individual finds most meaningful and important in his/her life. Therapy addresses the individual’s whole body, mind and lifestyle, not just an isolated hand or arm injury.
Kess is a registered Occupational Therapist in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, and a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the Canadian Society of Hand Therapists.
In her spare time, Kess enjoys spending time with her family and friends, participating in sports such as tennis, running and skiing, doing yoga and travelling.
